Lisa Harper
M.OMSc
Osteopathic Manual Practitioner
Lisa is a graduate of the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy (CAO), holding a Master in Practice of Osteopathic Manual Sciences (M.OMSc). She is a member in good standing with the Ontario Osteopathic Association. Trained in a principles-based approach to Osteopathy, Lisa applies this methodology to support her patients on their journey toward optimal health and wellness.
Before pursuing Osteopathy, Lisa became an American Sign Language–English Interpreter in 2001. She has worked extensively with Deaf communities across Canada, providing interpretation in a wide range of settings—including post-secondary education, legal, medical, mental health, employment, and video relay services. Her interpreting work, which demanded ongoing learning and adaptation, sparked a deep appreciation for anatomy and the complexity of the human body.
Lisa’s passion for health and movement deepened when she became a certified yoga instructor in 2017. Through yoga and her own experiences receiving osteopathic treatment, she witnessed firsthand the body’s ability to heal and was inspired to shift her career toward Osteopathy.
Today, Lisa is committed to working with both hearing and Deaf clients, using Osteopathic Manual Therapy to restore balance, ease restrictions, and support the body’s natural self-healing mechanisms through improved blood flow, nerve communication, and lymphatic circulation.
Outside of her practice, Lisa enjoys spending time with her family, being near the water, exploring nature, traveling, and capturing meaningful moments in her creative scrapbooks.
What is Osteopathy?
Osteopathy is a gentle, hands-on form of manual therapy that supports the body’s natural ability to heal and regulate itself. Grounded in four core principles, Osteopathy takes a whole-body approach to treatment that is both safe and effective for people of all ages—from newborns to older adults.
The Four Principles of Osteopathy:
The body is a unit. All parts of the body—physical, emotional, and structural—function together as one interconnected system.
Structure and function are interrelated. The way the body is built directly influences how it works, and vice versa.
The body has an innate ability to self-heal and self-regulate. When barriers are removed, the body can return to balance on its own.
Treatment is based on these principles. Osteopathic care is guided by these foundational beliefs, aiming to address the root cause—not just the symptoms.
Using this principles-based approach, an Osteopathic Manual Practitioner (OMP) gently assesses and treats the body as a whole, rather than focusing on one isolated area. The goal is to identify the underlying cause of dysfunction and support the body's natural healing processes—improving circulation, restoring mobility, and relieving tension to promote long-term health and well-being.
Osteopathic treatment is calming and non-invasive, making it suitable for individuals at every stage of life.
The Benefits of Osteopathy
Osteopathy takes a holistic, whole-body approach to health by addressing the root cause of dysfunction—not just the symptoms. By working through all layers of tissue, from muscles and joints to nerves, blood vessels, lymphatics, and organs, Osteopathy supports the body’s natural ability to self-heal and self-regulate.
This gentle, non-invasive treatment approach restores balance and harmony across the entire body, promoting long-term health and preventing the recurrence of symptoms or chronic conditions.
Osteopathic care is known to support all major systems of the body, including the circulatory, nervous, musculoskeletal, and lymphatic systems.
Many people report improvements in:
Increased mobility and flexibility
Improved posture and structural alignment
Relief from chronic pain or inflammation
Reduced muscle tension and stress
Enhanced blood, nerve, and lymph flow
More restful and restorative sleep
Boosted energy levels
Better digestion and gut health
Fewer colds, infections, and immune challenges
Positive mood and improved mental well-being
Because Osteopathy is deeply personalized and works with the body's natural rhythms, treatment outcomes vary—but the goal is always the same: to restore balance and help you feel your best.
